PRIORITY
- Also according to the statement: “It has been highlighted that the persistent lack of investment and insufficient European cooperation have created substantial gaps in defense capabilities. The 22 agreed priorities address the need for full-spectrum defense capabilities, enabling high-intensity operations. They include fourteen priorities in five military domains and eight related to strategic facilitators and multipliers.”

LAND OPERATIONS
- Among the main improvements analyzed by the Ministers, there are those relating to land operations: commitment to increase, also in quantitative terms, the range, precision and mobility of precision land attack capabilities, with improvements in stocks of large-caliber ammunition, advanced anti-tank systems Versatile close-range fire support. and resilience to cyber threats

AIR DEFENSE
- Particular attention is also paid to integrated air and missile defense, which includes all surface capabilities that face the air threat. Priorities in this area focus both on upgrading current air defense systems and on the development of next-generation systems with space-based early warning capabilities and unmanned aerial systems

UNDERWATER WAR
- Also expected are improvements in seabed warfare, underwater protection and anti-submarine capabilities with advanced autonomous underwater vehicles and surveillance systems

SUSTAINABILITY
- Another objective of the European Union is to facilitate the projection, support and effectiveness of forces. Key areas will be implemented which include shared stockpiles and common warehouses, logistics footprint and strengthening maintenance requirements to cope with extreme weather conditions

TRAINING
- A priority will also be the development of centers for professional military education, with particular attention to training and the ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment and to operate in new military fields, such as space and cyber

GOALS
- The President of the EDA and Senior Responsible for Foreign and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, said: “In line with the strategic compass objectives, the new priorities will enable our Member States and their armed forces to maintain freedom of action and be better prepared to respond to an ever-changing and increasingly deteriorating security environment.”
