“There was a mutual expression of interest”, underlined the mayor of Benevento. “We both agreed on the idea of the Center. Now a process begins to bring together and rally all those who recognize each other in the popular, liberal tradition,” he added
Matteo Renzi and Clemente Mastella met in the last few hours to take stock of the situation together in view of the European elections for which they will work on the construction of the “Il Centro” list. “There was a mutual expression of interest”, underlined the mayor of Benevento to Adnkronos. “We both agreed on the idea of the Center. Now a process begins to bring together and gather all those who recognize themselves in the popular, liberal tradition”.
An open project not a new party
It is an open project, but not a new party. “It’s not me who joins Italia Viva. The scheme is that of Margherita”, Mastella further clarified. According to both, the creation of a central area is “fundamental and necessary for Italian democracy without posing any veto for those who have the same idea and will”.
European elections, Renzi: “Neither Meloni nor Schlein, in the center with the free and strong”
“In the European elections there is the proportional system, and the proportional system calls the centre, the free and strong of the Catholic-democratic tradition, the reformists. Those who do not want Salvini or Conte, neither Meloni nor Schlein, can vote for us”. This, then, is the comment of Matteo Renzi, leader of Italia Viva, in view of the European elections.
