Everything is ready for the 17th edition of the Trento Festival of Economics, the first organized by the 24 Hours Group, together with the Municipality, University and Autonomous Province of Trento. Over the four days – from 2 to 5 June – 8 Nobel laureates will alternate in Trentino, over 75 speakers from the academic world, 20 of the most important international and national economists, 26 representatives of the most important European and national institutions, 36 speakers international, over 30 managers and entrepreneurs of some of the major Italian and multinational companies and 10 ministers.

The edition will focus on the consequences of the pandemic and the ongoing war, and is entitled “Between order and disorder”. The festival program consists of more than 200 events, divided into different strands: demography, circular economy, space economy, digital economy, Europe, gender equality, stability pact, real estate and territory, energy transition and climate.

The Nobel Prizes

Among the most important guests are the Nobel Prize winners for Economics Oliver D. Hart (awarded in 2016 for his contribution to the theory of contracts), Daniel McFadden (awarded in 2000 for the development of the theory and methods for model analysis of discrete choice) and Edmund Phelps (awarded in 2006 for the analysis of the intertemporal relations of macroeconomic policy). In Trento there will also be other Nobel laureates, such as Muhammad Yunus, 2006 Nobel Peace Prize winner.

The opening speech of the inaugural ceremony of the Festival, Thursday 2 June, will be by Card. Gianfranco Ravasi, President of the Pontifical Council for Culture, while the closing of the Festival on Sunday 5 June will be entrusted to the President of Confindustria Carlo Bonomi and to General John R. Allen, President of The Brookings Institution and former commander of NATO and US military forces in Afghanistan, for a reflection on the world after the Ukrainian crisis. The Festival will also be attended by the Chief Tribe of Arctic Canada Angaangaq Angakkorsuad Kalaallit Shaman who will bring his commitment to the environment and the themes of indigenous peoples.

The “Fuori festival”

During the event, the “Fuori festival” will also be held, a calendar of meetings designed to inspire, give strength to new ideas, explore unexpected visions, intelligently train and entertain the public of students, young people and families and, more in general, all those who are attracted to different languages ​​and approaches. The Fuori Festival Trento 2022 includes a series of events and activities that make up a real schedule, parallel to the main program, with special and entertainment contents. Educational islands, debates, competitions for ideas, moments of confrontation on topics ranging from the metaverse to the new communication languages, to the new professions and to the business models that may arise. Appointments that will help to ignite the entire city of Trento with three main strands: Culture of Creating, Visionaries, Order Words.
