And Macron doesn’t realize he’s sitting on a volcano.” In these terms, the alarm on an increasingly tense social situation in France is raised by Jacline Mouraud, one of the founders of the yellow vest protest movement, candidate for the 2022 presidential elections and then moved on to support the campaign of Eric Zemmour, from whom she finally distanced himself openly.
Speaking with Adnkronos, Mouraud says she was not surprised by the decision of the Council of Wise Men on the reform – judged compliant with the constitution for the part relating to the postponement of the retirement age to 64 – nor by the shared initiative referendum, rejected yesterday. “Everyone expected a validation of the reform because in any case, all those who sit on the Council, those ‘wise men’ will not bite the hand that feeds them”, he declares, recalling that the members of the institution are appointed by the presidents of the Assembly and Senate and the head of state.
