Franco Frattini, Calderoli: “I’m thinking of cancer that I’ve been fighting for 10 years”

“I am saddened and at this moment I can only think of my other friend and peer, Roberto Maroni”

“Once again I think of the ‘enemy’ or ‘uninvited guest’, cancer, which I, like many Italians, have been fighting for ten years”. It is a passage of the message with which Roberto Calderoli, Minister for regional affairs and autonomy, pays tribute to Franco Frattini. The president of the Council of State died yesterday at the age of 65.

“On this special day of Christmas, I mourn the passing of my friend Franco Frattini, with whom I have shared years of work together with the Government. We are losing a man who has served our institutions well for decades, giving his utmost commitment, with passion and seriousness, putting his heart into it and putting his precious expertise as a jurist at the service of the country. I am saddened and at this moment I can only think of my other friend and peer, Roberto Maroni. And once again I think of the ‘enemy’ or ‘guest’ unwanted’, cancer, which I, like many Italians, have been fighting for ten years: investing in research, and in cancer treatment, as well as prevention, must be a priority. We are doing it, but we can do more, we must do more” , says Calderoli.
