FS, RFI launches tender worth 1.1 billion for passer-by and railway station in Florence

Rete Ferroviaria Italiana has published in the Official Journal of the European Union the call for tenders, for a total amount of over 1.1 billion euros, for the construction of the bypass and the High Speed ​​station of the Florence node

A work considered strategic that will allow the High Speed ​​trains to no longer interfere with the regional ones, with positive effects both on the regularity of the service and on its possible strengthening, in terms of frequency and number of trips. The passage of the new High Speed ​​/ High Capacity line extends for about 7 kilometers underground with two parallel tunnels on average at a depth of about 20 meters, completed with two terminal sections on the surface.

Positive effects on the regularity of the service

The new Florence Belfiore HS / HC station will be built along the underground route, which will be interconnected with the Santa Maria Novella station and with the entire surrounding urban area thanks to different modes of transport: the new people-mover that will operate between the new station and Santa Maria Novella, line 2 of the city tram system already in operation, the new surface railway stop called Circondaria and connections, suitably strengthened, with city buses.

The revamping interventions are underway

Meanwhile, the Infrarail Firenze Company has already entrusted the execution of the revamping interventions of the cutter at the Campo Marte site. The preparatory activities for the disassembly of the machine were started from 1 August and will continue until March accompanied by those of overhaul, replacement of components and reassembly. By the end of March, once all the operations and preliminary tests have been completed, the machine will be able to be switched on. At the same time, a series of preparatory activities for the continuation of the works will continue with the IFR Company on the construction site of the High Speed ​​Station so that they will be completed on schedule.
