Matches from 14 to 30 July, 76 golds up for grabs: Azzurri at the start with a super team
Italy chasing gold in the World Swimming Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, scheduled from today July 14th to July 30th. On TV, the World Cup will be broadcast unencrypted by Rai, on satellite by Sky and in streaming by RaiPlay and Sky go. At stake, 76 world titles in 2 weeks in which the Azzurri take to the water with a selection of top athletes, starting with Gregorio Paltrinieri. The strongest national team ever, as insiders repeat, aims to confirm itself after the triumphs of the World Cup in Budapest and the European Championships in Rome. Spotlights focused in particular on swimming, in the week between 23 and 30 July. Paltrinieri, ‘lord’ of the 1500m freestyle, leads a patrol that includes Nicolò Martinenghi, Simona Quadarella, Thomas Ceccon, Benedetta Pilato, Margherita Panziera, Alessandro Miressi, Marco De Tullio, Matteo Restivo. Top-level competitions are announced already with diving, starting today, in which the Azzurri propose the green line with the very young Chiara Pellacani and Matteo Santoro, in the hunt for world championship satisfactions in a discipline historically dominated by the talent of China. Guaranteed entertainment with diving from great heights and performances by the athletes of artistic swimming. The first week will also be characterized by open water swimming competitions: the usual Paltrinieri, champion in the pool and at sea, is the symbol of a team that can count on the European champion Domenico Acerenza. Ambitions also in the women’s field, with the 10km which will give the direct pass to Paris to the athletes who will climb on the podium.
Furthermore, from Sunday 16 July, the kick-off for men’s and women’s water polo with Settebello and Setterosa. The men’s national team, 4 times world champion, will face France, Canada and China in the qualifying round. Brazil, South Africa and Greece instead the opponents of the girls.
