Elegant and compact design, Galaxy Z Fold5 has a weight of approximately 250 grams and a thickness of 13.4 millimeters when closed. It is a very versatile multipurpose phone: it has a 6.2-inch HD+ external screen; however, when opening it we get a large 7.6-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2x screen where you can view the apps large or side by side. It is also very convenient to be able to hold the phone halfway open to take ultra-stable photos or, for example, take part in a meeting in a bar without having to have the phone “shaking” in your hand.

Z Fold5 features a new Flex Hinge that manages to close the phone even more precisely, reducing the thickness by just over two millimeters compared to the previous model. The opening and closing system – based on an internal double track structure – is in our opinion very resistant.

The phone is powerful and snappy thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform processor for Galaxy. On board we find a 12 GB RAM memory and storage space, depending on the model chosen, of 256 GB, 512 GB or 1 TB. The battery, however, is 4,400 mAh and in our opinion it performs well and in a well-balanced manner. There is no charger in the package, Samsung ensures a 50 percent charge in about 30 minutes with a 25W adapter.

As regards the software, the operating system offers various “goodies”, including, in addition to multitasking, a multifunction lower bar which, on the large screen, transforms the phone into a tablet or a PC, giving the possibility of accessing the latest apps used and those opened most frequently. The “Drag and Drop with Two Hands” feature allows you to drag and drop between apps (for example, you can keep clicking on an image in the browser and then drag it into a chat or an email with extreme ease) .

The smartphone boasts several cameras. In the main rear compartment we find a triple camera system: a 50 MP wide angle, a 12 MP ultra-wide angle, a 10 MP telephoto lens with 3X optical zoom; we then find a 4 MP camera hidden under the display and a 10 MP external camera. The photos taken during our tests were of excellent quality: we were impressed by the quality of the colors and the rendering of the videos, which were very well stabilized. The software is the excellent quality that Samsung has accustomed us to.

Separately it is possible to purchase a stylus, the S Pen Fold Edition, with which to write, take notes and draw. It costs 59.90 euros and this year’s edition is improved in terms of efficiency and compactness compared to last year’s model. While the Slim S Pen Case (99.90 euros) is a case with an integrated slot that also allows you to carry the stylus.
NOW, all the news and reviews of Samsung products
Our test confirmed once again how Samsung is at the forefront in the field of foldables and continues to believe in the sector, despite the fact that this year there is no real innovation. A smartphone that we recommend to all those who travel, work on the move, who perhaps are looking for a unique product that combines the functionality of a smartphone and a tablet. It should be kept in mind that the Z Fold5 certainly makes its weight felt when closed in your pocket and that use on the beach or in dusty and humid places such as swimming pools or spas should be avoided.
