“A 40% reduction in gas tariffs in January would equate to savings on the gas bill of €845 per household on an annual basis.” This was stated by Codacons which, after the declarations of the Minister of Economy, Giancarlo Giorgetti, disseminates the official data on the consequences for the pockets of Italians. “In December, the gas tariffs established by Arera for the protected market rose to 150.95 euro cents per cubic metre, taxes included. “If the minister’s forecasts were confirmed, the average annual gas bill, considering the consumption of a ‘typical’ family, would thus go from the current 2,113 euros per year per household to 1,268 euros, with savings of around 845 euros per family” , Codacons still estimates. “In any case, it will be necessary to wait for the official data from Arera, which will be released in early February, to find out the real extent of the gas tariff drops and understand how the reduction in market prices will be reflected in Italian bills”, he warns however the association.
