Last night the Consul General of Italy in Jeddah met in prison with the young hostess Ilaria De Rosa, who has been locked up for weeks in a prison near Jeddah, in Saudi Arabia, on charges of detention and drug trafficking.

The meeting with the consul

According to what has been learned, the meeting took place in an administrative office, where De Rosa was taken from the detention area. The young woman appeared shaken but in good physical and psychological condition. She had not been advised of the consular visit but she was very happy to see the Italian diplomat, the source adds. The Italian officials first of all tried to reassure and reassure her, bringing her all the affection of the family and also informing her of what has been done so far in her case and of the attention that her story has attracted in Italy at all levels, starting from the Minister of Foreign Affairs who is following the case personally and with great interest. The young woman immediately declared herself totally innocent and did not quite understand the reasons for her detention.

The story of the stewardess

The woman said, the source reports, that while she was with other people at dinner at a friend’s house in the garden of a villa in a compound, they were suddenly surrounded by a dozen people in civilian clothes but armed, who stopped them and searched. De Rosa claims that she was the only woman to suffer this rather intrusive treatment, probably she-she says she-she as she is not an Arab. The woman also claims that her first impression was that of a robbery. She became aware of the situation, i.e. that she had been arrested, only once taken to a police station but that she had been formally questioned in English only after 5 days and on that occasion that she had contested any type of charge regarding the consumption or possession of narcotic substances. She also denies any consumption of alcoholic beverages. According to the hostess’s account, she signed an unspecified document in Arabic after the interrogation, the content of which she is unaware of.
