“The financial statements of a football club must be more correct than those of civil society, because you have to be an example”
“There are those who talk about reforming the championships, but all football needs to be re-founded“. Said the president of the Football Federation, Gabriele Gravina, today in Naples for the presentation of the first Italian university chair specifically dedicated to the ‘Juridical nature of the rules of the game of football’. The chair was born within the course in Sport law and management of the three-year degree course in Legal Services Sciences of the University of Campania ‘Luigi Vanvitelli’.
“We have to face each other and be consistent: visionaries, yes, but keeping in mind the great sense of responsibility. We can no longer consider above all the interest of the individual: we must give priority to everyone’s interest. We need a cultural revolution” says Gravina, who also points out: “The financial statements of a football club must be more correct than those of civil society, because you have to be an example. The system of rules is part of the economic system”.
“Ethics is a necessary and fundamental condition in the world of football, sport and practice. These worlds have in common a strict compliance with the rules, which serve to ensure a capable organization. There must be a close communion of intentions. The world of football seems so distant from ours, but it’s not,” says the president of the Football Federation.
“We must invert the concept of the norm. Politics must understand that the world of the football industry exists and deserves consideration and respect. We pay over one billion a year into the state coffers. We are a real industry. We cater to numerous product sectors different. When football cries out for help, and not for assistance, it does so to claim its correct positioning in the country. It does so with good reason, because we are in a moment of crisis, of transition”.
