Expected in Austria for an important performance, he was struck by an illness: the concert, already sold-out for weeks, was canceled.

Bad news for music fans and art lovers in general: the highly anticipated concert scheduled for Austria was canceled due to the sickness which impressed its protagonist. It would have been “cardiocirculatory problems”, reports the Corriere della Sera.

The event, which had already been sold out for weeks, should have celebrated its 80th anniversary with a special exhibition at Salzburg Festival, scheduled for the evening of last Sunday 21 August. The artist’s next concert, true Italian pride, has therefore been postponed to next 7 October a Chicagounder the direction of the master Riccardo Muti.

Born in 1942, the famous pianist is a “son of art” because his mother was the musician Renata Melotti, sister of the well-known sculptor Fausto. After graduating from the Milan Conservatory, in 1960 he was the first Italian to win the Chopin contest in Warsaw, obtaining, among other things, the applause of the Polish pianist Rubenstein who would have said of him: “This young man already technically sounds better than all of us”.

The Italian musician we are talking about is one of the most important names in the world artistic scenario, that is the great one Maurizio Pollini. In honor of his 80th birthday, a recital was organized during the Austrian festival in which Beethoven was supposed to play. In detail, the master should have performed in: the Bagatelle op. 126/3, Piano Sonata No. 28 in A major op. 101, Piano Sonata No. 29 in B flat major (“Hammerklavier”) op.106.

Shortly before entering the scene, however, the director of the event, Markus Hinterhäuser, announced that Pollini could not have been on stage. According to what the Courierthe cause would have been an illness due to “cardiocirculatory problems”.
