Production has officially started on the reboot of one of the most iconic works of the ’80s. Highlanders, directed by Russell Mulcahy and released in 1986, starred Christopher Lambert, Sean Connery and Clancy Brown with a soundtrack by Queen. Over the years the film has been included among the cults of the seventh art, also becoming a real franchise made up of sequels and television spin-offs.
Deadline has now revealed that the first film will be revived thanks to the robot directed by Chad Stahelski, director of all four chapters of John Wick. Henry Cavill will be the protagonist, maximum confidentiality about the other names in the cast.
According to what was exclusively reported, the film will have a budget of 100,000,000 dollars, making it a production of great importance for Lionsgate. The departure of the entire organizational machine should take place in 2024. No information on the possible release date.
Chad Stahelski will also produce alongside Joshua Davis, Neal H. Moritz And Louise Rosnerwhile the screenplay will be signed by Mike Finch.
