The first episode of House of the Dragon (LO SPECIAL), a spin-off series by game of Thrones dedicated to the events of the Targaryen family, in an Italian exclusive on Sky Atlantic and streaming only on NOW, simultaneously in the original language subtitled with the broadcast in the United States. The series is available on demand on Sky and NOW and the first episode dubbed in Italian will also arrive from 29 August. Here are 10 valid reasons not to miss a single episode.
1. To return to Westeros
If three years ago you felt like an orphan and left game of Thrones with a sense of incompleteness, House of the Dragon it is the best opportunity to try to fill that void and heal that wound. A matter of the heart, rather than the head.
2. TO DISCOVER A NEW WORLD
If you have never seen it game of Thronesif you’ve had it there in your watchlist for years but the idea of being overwhelmed by 73 episodes and practically as many hours in front of the TV scares you, don’t despair. House of the Dragon you can watch it even without having ever seen the mother series. Of course, the references are there, but it is not essential to grasp them to fully enjoy the vision.
3. FOR MATT SMITH’S DAEMON TARGARYEN
The narrative universe created by George RR Martin has accustomed us to ruthless and moral-less characters. Daemon Targaryen, played by Matt Smith, promises to take up the baton of the most hateful person (and for this reason, at the same time, lovable) and carry it with great pride. And to perfectly embody the archetype of the mad Targaryen.
4. FOR FEMALE EMPOWERMENT MESSAGE
From the very first minutes of the first episode, it becomes clear that the Targaryen world is not made for women. Not to be ruled by them, at least. Yet something moves, little by little, from the claims of Rhaenys to the choice of Viserys who declares Rhaenyra his legitimate heir. In short, the long road to Daenerys’ rise begins here.
5. FOR THE QUALITY OF THE VISUAL EFFECTS
To make every single episode of House of the Dragon 20 million dollars were spent, 5 more than what each episode of the last season of Game of Thrones cost, 14 compared to those of the first season. A nice leap forward in production is evident in the quality of the visual effects, which appear extraordinarily convincing and compelling.
6. FOR DRAGONS
Obviously. If you love dragons you love Targaryens, if you don’t love Targaryens, you are probably not a true dragon lover. In House of the Dragon you will see a lot of them, therefore, brace yourself.
7. BECAUSE THE HBO DID NOT MUTE FOR ANYTHING
If anyone feared that HBO might soften after the mainstream success of Game of Thrones and the many debates that have sparked over the amount of violence and sex in its episodes, well, the danger seems to have escaped. House of the Dragon is a series as explicit as the mother was, it takes a few handfuls of minutes to realize it.
8. TO FIND OUT HOW THE FALL OF THE TARGARYEN BEGAN
King Jaehaerys understood this: only the Targaryens could cause the Targaryens to fall. Now, this concept is told to us by Rhaenyra (the narrator is that of Emma D’Arcy) in the prologue of the first episode, but to find out how the House of the Dragon is slowly self-destructing, we will have to arm ourselves with patience and wait for the development of the series. .
9. BECAUSE RHAENYRA IS MUCH MORE THAN IT SEEMS
Daenerys fans, orphans of the Mother of Dragons, maybe we’ve found a way to make you stop crying. Rhaenyra Targaryen is an extremely charming character who seems to have many of the virtues in her to win the hearts of fans. A young, independent, strong and sensitive princess, she finds herself almost by surprise to be the first woman officially named heir to the Iron Throne. She and she is the first to utter the word “dracarys” in the series.
10. TO SEND ONE OF THE MOST ICONIC ABBREVIATIONS IN THE HISTORY OF TV
When you get to the end of the episode, skipping the credits will be impossible. Because you will hear the notes of that march that for eight seasons had introduced you to every episode of the Throne of Swords. “Tam tam, taratam tam, taratam tam” …
