How Cameron Diaz and Kate Hudson’s Feud Over J-Lo’s Ex Alex Rodriguez Started

A timeline of Rodríguez’s girlfriends reads like a seating plan for the People’s Choice Awards.

But, from what all of Rodriguez’s exes have said about him, it’s an experienced professional in the game of love.

“I’m in a good relationship,” he said Jennifer Lopez to HELLO! USA. back in his A-Rod days:

“I feel like this is the first relationship I’ve been in where I feel like we’ve really gotten better at each other.”

The singer was enthusiastic about the athlete’s willingness to be supportive and make his partner happy.

“There’s a different selflessness in love that’s beautiful and different. And healthy!” Lopez concluded.

In addition to J-Lo, the retired New York Yankees star has used his hitting skills to hit home runs with Hudson, Diaz, Bethenny Frankel and even Madonna.

Well, one thing’s for sure, A-Rod definitely doesn’t have “a type.” So how did Diaz and Hudson’s rumored feud over A-Rod start?

It all started with Justin Timberlake and ended with A-Rod

Before there was Alex Rodríguez, he was Justin Timberlake. A year after Timberlake dumped Britney Spears, he dated Cameron Diaz during four years.

Things got pretty intense before they broke up in 2007. However, Timberlake wasted no time crying his eyes out. Instead, he reportedly got his sexy back back with Kate Hudson. They reportedly had a steamy year-long connection.

However, in 2008, Hudson moved to Rodriguez and they were seen getting hot and heavy in Miami. Over the next few months, she was seen constantly cheering on A-Rod from the sideline.

So, just like that, attack! “It was a turnoff to have a girlfriend who always wanted to be on camera,” a source told Us Weekly. “Alex wanted someone who was more interested in building a long-term relationship than just building her profile.”

Enter Diaz. She and A-Rod were first seen dancing together at a pre-Super Bowl party in February 2010. There were already issues between Diaz and Hudson over Timberlake, but things went nuclear with Rodriguez.

Diaz was the antithesis of Hudson, rarely appearing at games and keeping their relationship super private. However, in September 2011, it was game over for Díaz and Rodríguez, but there were extra innings for her and Hudson.

A-Rod’s Battle of the Blondes

Just a month after she finally confirmed they were dating, Alex Rodriguez’s relationship with Cameron Diaz was over.

Diaz was hurt and heartbroken, but Kate Hudson was on top of a rolling rally of glee. Hudson had had a meltdown after finding out Diaz was dating her ex and believed he was only hooking up with A-Rod to get back at her for hooking up with Justin Timberlake.

“Kate thinks it’s payback, pure and simple,” a source said.

“Kate hates Cameron,” another source told Page Six sharing that Hudson had been bragging about landing the lead in “Nine,” instead of Diaz, who supposedly really wanted the part. “Kate thinks Cameron is an aging actress struggling to stay sexy and relevant,” the source accused.

Diaz apparently found Hudson’s accusations amusing. “She thinks it’s a joke that Kate would be mad… Kate’s just upset because she hates being single,” a friend of Diaz’s claimed.

However, it seems that, by 2012, the two had buried the hatchet (and not in each other’s backs). They were reportedly seen playing cool at the Vanity Fair Oscar party that year.

The two friend-enemies apparently hugged and chatted over champagne. And in 2013, Diaz opened up about “good friend of his” Hudson in an Interview (via Pop Sugar).
