In San Felice Circeo on May 28th the 2nd edition of the Swallows Regatta

After last year’s great success, the second edition of the Swallows Regatta will take place on 28 May from 8:30 in the waters overlooking San Felice Circeo, organized by the Latina Committee of ANDOS – Association of Breast Operated Women, in collaboration of the Circeo Yacht Vela Club and the Circeo Primo Cooperative. Like last year, when 52 women out of 16 boats took to the sea, the sport sailing – which in case of bad weather will move to June 4 – plans to reach a buoy a few miles from the starting line and return to port. The guests who will participate will obviously not be asked for technical/sailing tasks, but will be offered the opportunity to spend a few hours of serenity on board a sailboat and understand in a simple and direct way how a sailboat moves with the wind and how it can reach any destination, regardless of the wind direction.

All boats will be invited to display an orange cloth provided by the ANDOS Volunteers, which will be waved as a sign of participation and solidarity. Various sailors will make their boats and a minimum of their crew available to welcome the associated women, who will be matched by drawing lots to each of the entered boats. Furthermore, in the port area there will be an ANDOS gazebo with volunteers who will welcome the public who wish to be informed both on the activities of the Association and on the oncological screening programs of the ASL of Latina. ANDOS is present in Italy with 52 Committees and has been active in Latina since 2010. The mission of the Association is to take care of women operated on for breast cancer through various activities: psychological support, lymphatic drainage of the affected arm, nutritional pathway and group, group occupational activity, free supply of wigs, cultural and recreational activities.

ANDOS also undertakes to increase citizens’ awareness of diagnostic anticipation by promoting adherence to regional cancer screening programs, also to promote the multidisciplinary path of breast cancer treatment at the Breast Units among women . The Volunteers, women already involved in the disease or not, work every day with enthusiasm to guarantee the activities listed above, completely free of charge. To pursue the above objectives and welcome women at every stage of their diagnostic-therapeutic path, ANDOS organizes and promotes each year engaging and sometimes exciting solidarity events such as the solidarity event on May 28th in the Porto del Circeo.
