India, man declared dead, wakes up in the morgue

A man pronounced dead after a car accident in India it has been found alive but in critical condition, after a night spent in a hospital cold room. Paris Match reveals it. Srikesh Kumar, 45, was rushed to a private clinic after being hit by a motorcycle in Moradabad, east of New Delhi. Declared dead by a doctor on arrival at the clinic, he was then taken to a public hospital for an autopsy on Friday. “The emergency room doctor examined him. He found no signs of life and therefore pronounced him dead,” said hospital medical director Rajendra Kumar. The body was then placed in a cold room until the family arrived six hours later.

“When a police team and his family came to initiate administrative procedures for the autopsy, he was found alive,” he added. The man is still in a coma. “It is nothing but a miracle,” commented the hospital director. An investigation is underway to understand how this may have been a diagnostic error.
