While young people reported very high shares of daily use of the Internet in every country, there has been greater variation among adult users. On average, the difference between the share of young people and adults who use the Internet on a daily basis in the EU was 12 percentage points

In the NetherlandsSweden, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Belgium and Luxembourg this gap did not exceed 7 percentage points

Other EU countries reported a high percentage of daily Internet use among young people, but a marked gap wider with adults: Croatia and Greece (21 percentage points), Portugal and Bulgaria (both 19 percentage points) e Poland and Romania (18 percentage points)

In 2022 84% of young people have used the Internet to participate in the networks of social mediawhich is the preferred use of the Internet for young people since 2014, with varying data slightly but remain a high levels
Some of the others main uses have been reading the news online (68%) and Internet banking (64%)

While the use of the Internet for banks has been steadily increasing since 2014 (45% of young people), online news reading peaked in 2020 (73%) and it has since lost momentum with the decrease of percentage of young people who read online (-5 percentage points)

Because of Covid-19 pandemicmost of the activities have seen an increase, especially regarding the use of the Internet for online courseswhich rose from 13% in 2019 to 35% in 2021

However, in the 2022that percentage has dropped to 28% (-7 percentage points), but it is still much more elevated compared to 2019. In 2022, only 23% of young people she used the Internet for civic or political participation, an activity she experienced a slight amount of increase since 2015
