Italian Cup, Lazio beats Bologna 1-0

in the quarterfinals, the winner between Juve and Monza awaits

A goal from Felipe Anderson in the first half was enough for Lazio to beat Bologna 1-0 in the first knockout round of the Italian Cup. Thanks to this success, Maurizio Sarri’s team reaches the quarter-finals where the winner between Juventus and Monza awaits on the pitch tonight. Sarri implements a targeted turn over for the match, sending Luis Maximiliano onto the field in goal, Felipe Anderson as a false nueve with Pedro and Zaccagni on his sides, while Thiago Motta chooses Barrow as the only striker, with Orsolini and Aebischer on the wings.

Sprint start of Lazio with Felipe Anderson who goes to the conclusion after just 10 seconds forcing Skorupski to return with his fists. In the 11th minute Milinkovic-Savic tries but the header ends just over the crossbar. A minute later Zaccagni, after a mistake by Cambiaso, centers and finishes but the Bologna goalkeeper blocks in two halves. In the 18th minute Pedro’s free-kick was deflected and almost mocked Skorupski who again opposed Milinkovic shortly after. Lazio’s pressure was successful in the 33rd minute: Pedro snatched the ball from Sosa in the area and needed an easy ball for Felipe Anderson who only had to push the ball into the net for the 1-0. Bologna tries to react and in the 35th minute Orsolini sends off a powerful left foot that goes high.

In the second half Bologna raised their center of gravity but opened up in defense and in the 48th minute Milinkovic-Savic hit a cross from Zaccagni with a header but sent the ball high over the crossbar. Luis Alberto also tries first with a semi-forward kick and then with a shot from distance but the Rossoblu goalkeeper is careful. In the 69th minute Luis Alberto finishes with power but Skorupski punches back. Bologna continues to push but without ever being able to worry Maximiliano.
