The video clip has been released on YouTube Stuckthe new single from Thirty Seconds to Mars.
The song anticipates the release of the new album by the Leto brothers, entitled It’s The End Of The World But It’s a Beautiful Day and expected for September (it is their sixth studio album). The video that accompanies the song is directed by Jared Leto himself, frontman of the American band (founded together with his brother).
The actor-musician defines his video creation with these words: “It’s a love letter to some of my favorite photographers”.
At the bottom of this article you can watch the video of the song Stuckdirected by Jared Leto.
The Leto brothers are passionate about art and photography
“Thanks to my incredibly creative mother, my brother and I developed a love for art and photography from an early age,” Jared Leto explained. “The video of Stuck – our first new song in five years – is a love letter to some of my favorite photographers. Artists who have had a very profound impact on me such as Richard Avedon, Irving Penn, Robert Mapplethorpe, Diane Arbus, Herb Ritts and others. Artists whose work changed the way I saw things and showed me new possibilities at every turn.”
The indissoluble bond between Jared Leto and fashion
As can be seen from the list of photographers mentioned by Jared Leto, they are sacred monsters of fashion photography.
The Hollywood star is inextricably linked to the fashion world, of which he is largely part as a testimonial of famous Maisons.
We are talking about a very multifaceted artist, active as he is in various sectors, from the seventh art to the seven notes. However, the latter had been relatively shelved, given that the latest Thirty Seconds To Mars album, Americadates back to 2018. The five-year break that the group has taken makes this new recording effort even more awaited by fans.
The video of Stuck wants to continue the journey started with Up In The Air
This new video clip wants to be the ideal continuation of the journey started with Up In The Air2013 song from the album Love, Lust, Faith and Dreams.
The music video for that song was described by Leto in the following terms: “A celebration of art, design, fashion and the extraordinary people who bring it to life. It is a love letter to the power of movement and connection, a testimony of the impressive potential of different people, not always accepted, but who make the world so much more fascinating.I would like to express my immense gratitude to everyone involved, from the incredibly talented artists and designers, to the behind-the-scenes team and everyone who worked working so hard to make it all possible. Your contributions have made this experience a thoroughly unforgettable adventure and helped capture and celebrate the essence of what makes us all unique and exceptional.”
The attention for haute couture (which has always been one of Jared Leto’s great loves) is reflected in the wonderful looks of FW23 and in garments by designers such as Gucci, Ann Demeulemeester, Balmain, Maison Margiela, Raf Simons, Rick Owens, Jean Paul Gaultier, just to name a few.
The tracklist of the new album is also inspired by the Italian hits heard during the filming of House Of Gucci
Interviewed by NME as of 2021, Jared Leto had claimed to have written about two hundred songs for the new album, heavily inspired by 80s songs from artists such as Blondie, George Michael and the Eurythmics.
And that’s not all: the American musician and actor had declared that he was also inspired by the Italian hits heard during the filming of the film House Of Gucci (in Ridley Scott’s film he plays Paolo Gucci, and this is also a link with fashion. He will also soon play the role of the designer Karl Legerfeld).
“A lot of those sounds are going to be on the next Thirty Seconds To Mars album,” he said. “My first instrument was a Roland Juno 106, an 80s synthesizer. I loved that instrument very much and those sounds make me nostalgic, they are engraved in our psyche and speak directly to our heart”.
The text of Stuck of Thirty Seconds To Mars
As for the text of StuckJared Leto states the following: “I wrote this from the point of view of a person who simply can’t help but dive headfirst into what is likely to be a problematic love story.”
The song recites the lines: “The more I drift, the closer I get to you / She’s a ghost, and the truth it’s impossible / But I love her lies”. He’s a ghost, and the truth is impossible / But I love his lies.”
Jared Leto explains that “the song is about that situation where you’re aware that you need to get out of a relationship but you’re unable to do it out of fear, habit or confusion, so you get stuck”. Hence the title, Stuckwhich in English means “stuck”.
