After the great success of the last edition, from 1 to 4 June in Pordenone the 5th edition of JAZZTOGETHER, one of the most important jazz festivals in Friuli Venezia Giulia, as well as a meeting point for musicians and music lovers from all over the world. The aim of the 5th edition of Jazzinsieme, which takes place under the artistic direction of Vincenzo Barattin and the presidency of Giorgio Ivan, is to tell and make known more and more, through Jazz music, the cultural, artistic and tourist soul of Pordenone.

“Now in its fifth edition, Jazzinsieme is confirmed as one of the most prestigious events in Friuli Venezia Giulia and assumes the structure of a widespread Festival in the city of Pordenone – declares Giorgio Ivan – The goal is to move from a model of review enclosed in a ‘limited area in which only the passionate public can access, an event that involves the rest of the territorial fabric in an embrace, made up of streets and squares, people, commercial and industrial activities, local authorities and associations”. For four days the center historic center of Pordenone will come alive with concerts by internationally renowned jazz musicians, thus consolidating the link between the city and jazz music.The evocative and spectacular squares of Pordenone will be the backdrop to the event.
“From an artistic point of view, this edition is focused on European jazz and its contemporary interpreters who are distinguishing themselves on the international scene – explains Vincenzo Barattin – We will go through different nuances: from the jazz-funk revival of the French Lehmanns Brothers and Collettivo Immaginario, to the reinterpretations of the immense Jelly Roll Morton with Helga Plankensteiner, also keeping an eye on the growth of the Valdobbiadene Jazz Ensemble which represents the homonymous Festival. THE PROGRAM
Rich program again this year for the new edition of Jazzinsieme, including DJ Sets, concerts, exhibitions, guided tours and solidarity events. It starts with the chase. Two free-entry aperitif-DJ SETs on 17 and 24 May by DJ Paolo Scotti on the rooftops of the Hotel Santin and the Palagurmé will act as a “prelude” to the actual Festival, which will be held from 1 to 4 June. We remind you that Wednesday 31 May there will be a special evening to kick off the event with the prestigious DJ SET by Alessio Bertallot. To inaugurate this edition of the event, Thursday 1 June at 21.30 in Piazzetta Pescheria, will be the concert of the LEHMANNS BROTHERS, an explosive French live-band between funk and jazz, often on tour throughout Europe, which is also creating a following overseas thanks new single Rain.

Friday 2 June, the appointments will be concentrated in Piazzetta Pescheria. Located behind the Verdi Theater, it is characterized by the large mural depicting the artists behind the scenes, a symbol of proximity to the world of culture and entertainment. At 19.00, the YOUNG section of the Festival will see the performance of the VALDOBBIADENEJAZZ ENSEMBLE, a group of young Venetian talents born as a musical project ambassador of the homonymous festival held in the UNESCO hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene. At 21.30 there will be a concert by JELLY ROLL PLAYS MORTON, an international band led by Helga Plankensteiner who dedicate their repertoire to Jelly Roll Morton, music icon as well as great pianist and composer who proclaimed himself “inventor of jazz” (admission fee – FULL € 18 + DP, REDUCED € 16 + DP).
Saturday 3 June the shows will begin at 16.30, with Enrica Bacchia and Massimo Zemolin – CANZONI IN JAZZ, who will perform in the protected residence “Casa Serena”, giving those present a generous gift of extraordinary sensitivity and reminding once again that music is of all, without borders or labels. The duo will perform a wide repertoire ranging from jazz to South American music, from blues to Italian singer-songwriters. Enrica and Massimo give a completely new and unexpected musical depth with their arrangements.

At 21.30 in Piazzetta Pescheria, Gianluca Petrella and his Cosmic Renaissance project will bring the new album “UniversalLanguage”, exploration of a galaxy of sounds between spiritual jazz, electronic experimentation, Afro-futurist inspirations and space jazz, with the aim of uniting different musical worlds in a single transgenerational language.

Sunday 4 June appointment for the grand finale of the Festival.
Starting at 19.00, the band COLLETTIVO IMMAGINARIO will perform live in Piazzetta San Marco. Italian trio with a style firmly rooted in the jazz tradition combined with a strong funk contamination, known and appreciated in Italy and abroad for its enthralling concerts full of energy (Free admission).
The evening will continue in Piazzetta Pescheria at 21.30, with the special live appointment with RYMDEN, which will round off these 4 days of the Festival.
RYMDEN is a trio born from the union of the award-winning Norwegian pianist Bugge Wesseltoft with two leading exponents of Scandinavian jazz: Magnus Öström and Dan Berglund. These three artists give new life to the history of contemporary music, redefining a new conception of jazz and a completely original sound on an international scale. A project that borders on modern jazz influences, Bach and rock music, intertwining with an adult and relaxed concert experience.

Venues in the historic center will also be involved in the realization of the Festival: in fact, “live club” concerts will be held on all the days of Jazzinsieme 2023 in selected venues in the center of Pordenone. BOTANICO, BAR POSTA, DA CICO, CORNER, IL POSTO di Follador, MOLO, OVEST La Boutique and PROSCIUTTERIA MARTIN are the partners who will host these events, which will act as a “musical aperitif” before the concerts scheduled during the Jazzinsieme evenings.
But there won’t be only music: during the 4 days of the festival, Jazzinsieme 2023 includes a series of side events that will further enrich the line-up of the Festival.
“Concerts with world jazz stars, exhibitions and DJ sets, guided tours and musical meetings; Jazzinsieme this year does things big – announces Alberto Parigi – Marry music with tourism, art, culture. And he dresses Pordenone with the sparkling and elegant clothes of the great jazz. Concerts and events integrate into the city, transforming it into the epicenter of international jazz. The common thread of the notes joins the rediscovery of historic squares and places of culture, from the Pescheria and San Marco squares to the Bertoia gallery, from the former convent of San Francesco to the former Capitol cinema”. Among the various initiatives, the exhibition “1000 records for a century. 1900-2000″, edited by the musicologist Enrico Merlin, who created the homonymous book published by Il Saggiatore. The project represents a journey through space and time to celebrate music and its media, production and technology, the art of sound and image through the display of more than 300 vinyls, fundamental reference points in the history of music of the 1900s. Visitors will also be able to discover, through a series of plays, some of the most creative artists and most innovative works. The exhibition will be open to visitors during the days of the Festival and from Friday to Sunday until July 2nd.
The experience will also be enriched by a series of musical insights in the gallery by the curator of the exhibition. The events will be held on the weekends from 2 June to 2 July, at 17:00, and will concern artists such as Miles Davis, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Frank Zappa, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, the theme of women in rock and jazz music . On Saturday 10 June, the art historian Renato Portolan will offer further insight into the exhibition, analyzing the vinyl covers that have made the history of music from the point of view of the figurative arts.
This year the Festival is also counting on the collaboration with the Piano City Pordenone organization, which will bring 4 free piano concerts to the Harry Bertoia Gallery, on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 June at 16:00 and 18:30.
Another novelty of the 2023 edition of Jazzinsieme is given by “Jazz Icons – sound guides to discover Pordenone”, scheduled on the weekends from 2 June to 2 July, or guided sound tours to learn about details and anecdotes of some of the key figures of jazz, combined with a visit to the most representative places in the historic center of Pordenone.
The loudspeakers project was born from the collaboration between Brianza Audio Lab, a company specialized in the production of Studio Monitor and Hi-End loudspeakers, and the Bruno Carniello Professional Technical Institute, address Made in Italy. Blaze Monitor, which will be the new flagship of Brianza Audio Lab. Blaze Monitor is a Monitor-type loudspeaker intended for top-level hi-fi use and for monitoring the quality of musical productions. The collaboration with the Carniello Institute is essential for the definition of the aesthetic aspect of the design and finishes.

The first series of editions of the festival dates back to 1984 and ended in 1988. In those years the festival brought the best Friulian, national and international jazz artists to Pordenone such as Woody Shaw, Joe Farrell, Tony Scott, Elvin Jones, Michael Brecker, Phil Woods, Chet Baker and Woody Herman and many more.
Since 2019, the Blues Cultural Association in Villa APS has intended to re-propose Jazzinsieme with a brand new project, without however forgetting the history, the past philosophy and maintaining the original logo.
The Blues in Villa Cultural Association was formally established in 2004 with the aim of enhancing and promoting the provincial and regional territory through the creation of musical events, art shows, exhibitions, conferences, workshops and book presentations.
This 5th edition of the festival is organized and implemented with the collaboration and support of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, the Municipality of Pordenone, the Friuli Foundation, the Pordenone-Udine Chamber of Commerce and important private partners.
Thanks to the collaboration between Jazzinsieme, Promoturismo FVG and Pordenone Turismo, on the occasion of the festival, those who stay at least one night in one of the facilities affiliated with the consortium will receive the FVG CARD as a gift and will be able to attend the concerts for free and discover Friuli Venezia Giulia through exhibitions, activities and sites of interest throughout the region.
