Juve and sporting trials, Ferrero: “Next year we will return to Europe”

The president explains the ‘plea deal’ with UEFA: “We couldn’t afford to stay out of these competitions for 2 or 3 years”

Has Juventus dropped their pants in front of UEFA? In the meeting, the top management of the Juventus club found themselves answering questions from the small shareholders who ask for an account of the position taken by the club in sporting trials. Last year, Juve was penalized by the Italian sporting justice system and relegated in the rankings. UEFA then excluded the Old Lady from the Conference League, closing the case. “We couldn’t afford to stay out of these competitions for 2 or 3 years. With the sort of plea bargain, we conformed to what was decided by UEFA, giving up the Conference League”, says the president of Juventus, Gianluca Ferrero.

“This is what I intended to defend myself in the competent bodies, respecting the bodies of justice and we did it with seriousness. The result is that today the team is there, playing, is second, we will play an extraordinary next match. The next year we will return to play in the cups and we will return to writing the extraordinary history of this team. If I made a mistake we will see later.”

“In the 2022-23 season we had sporting proceedings that saw us involved in the so-called cross capital gains and salary maneuvers. The first ended on 23 May 2023, with a penalty of 10 points in the team’s standings already discounted in the last championship. The second proceeding was closed with a fine of 700 thousand euros with a sort of plea bargain. The proceedings brought by the Federal Prosecutor’s Office against Juventus end here”, he adds.

Therefore, the processes moved to Europe: “The reasons are the cross capital gains, the salary maneuver, with the procedure closed in July 2023 with Juve excluded from the cup in which it was supposed to participate at UEFA level. There is also a fee to be paid economic contribution of 10 million payable in three tranches. This closes the UEFA proceedings. With these two Italians first, and this European, the proceedings against Juventus have been closed.”
