The idea of the Superlega, supported by the former Juventus president Andrea Agnelli, was formalized in spring 2021 with an initiative by a group of companies that quickly dissolved. Juve remained tied to the project in a particularly complex period, characterized by sporting proceedings in Italy, with the penalty imposed by the FIGC Court of Appeal for the capital gains case and with the settlement for the so-called ‘salary maneuver’.
