Leonardo Dicaprio come back to work with Martin Scorsese in Killers of the Flower Moona film that Apple Original Films has just released the trailer.
Set in the1920s Oklahoma, the film depicts the killings of some Native Americans in Osage County, who became rich thanks to the oil discovered on their land. The crimes were later dubbed the “Reign of Terror”. On those murders, he decided to investigate the FBI.
The plot and the cast of Killers of the Flower Moon
Leonardo DiCaprio plays Ernest, the nephew of a powerful local rancher (played by Robert De Niro, another Scorsese fetish actor). Lily Gladstone is Ernest’s wife Mollie.
There official synopsis of the film tells the true story of Osage County, which grew rich with the oil industry in the early 20th century. Their wealth attracted several white thugs, who manipulated and stole as much money as they could, before resorting to murder.
Based on a true storytold through the impossible love story between Ernest Burkhart (DiCaprio) and Mollie Kyle (Gladstone), Killers of the Flower Moon is a western and detective epic, in which true love crosses unspeakable betrayals.
Along with DiCaprio, De Niro and Gladstone, the cast includes Brendan Fraser, Jesse Plemons, Tantoo Cardinal, Cara Jade Myers, JaNae Collins, Jillian Dion, William Belleau, Louis Cancelmi, Tatanka Means, Michael Abbott Jr., Pat Healy, Scott Shepherd, Jason Isbell and Sturgill Simpson.
For Leonardo DiCaprio, it’s about the sixth film with Martin Scorsese. The two have previously worked in Gangs of New York (2002), The Aviator (2004), The Departed (2006), Shutter Island (2010) and The Wolf of Wall Street (2013).
The words of the costume designer
During an interview with Deadline, the costume designer Jacqueline West had spoken of the film, seen in preview, calling it a masterpiece. “I was talking to Leo about it. We had lunch before I came here. He said, ‘Jackie, I think we’ve been working on a masterpiece.’ since he was a kid.”
Scorsese co-wrote the film with screenwriter Eric Roth (Dunes) and produced the film, but DiCaprio is also an executive producer.
Killers of the Flower Moon will be released in Italian theaters on October 19, 2023.
