On the red carpet of the Met Gala 2023, kim kardashian dazzled in a corseted Schiaparelli gown embellished with pearls.
The 42-year-old businesswoman was seen at the event Vogue which took place on Monday, where she arrived accompanied by her sisters.
In an interview with VogueKim explained that her inspiration for the night’s look was Karl Lagerfeld. “What’s more Karl? The iconic pearls is what I thought so we wanted to be covered in pearls,” the star said. Furthermore, she revealed that her daughter North West picked up some of the jewelry she dropped on the steps before entering the event.
To accessorize the pearl-studded gown, the Skims businesswoman wore her brown hair up in a polished updo. This isn’t the first time Kim has attended the Met Gala, as she made her debut in 2013 with her then-boyfriend. Kanye West and, since then, she has turned heads with her extravagant looks at each edition of the event.
While Kim has in the past been criticized for her Met Gala wardrobe choices, including her 2013 Givenchy gown that got her removed from Vogue’s coverage, has managed to become one of the most anticipated stars every year.
In 2018, Kardashian wore a gold Atelier Versace gown made of gold chains. In 2019, she opted for a corset-fitting Thierry Mugler mini dress, and in 2021, she donned a black Balenciaga outfit that covered her face.
Last year, Kim caused controversy by rapidly losing weight so she could wear the iconic “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” dress from marilyn monroe. Some sources indicated that the reality star would have been excluded from the guest list for this year’s Met Gala, however, Kim herself confirmed his presence at the event.
In the days leading up to the Met Gala, Kim visited Karl Lagerfeld’s famous cat, Choupette, and posted photos with the pet on his Instagram account. She also shared a video on her Instagram Story in which she showed off a room decorated by her daughter North West.
