The flyer was released by Forza Nuova
A homophobic leaflet was distributed by Forza Nuova in Lajatico (Pisa) and is addressed to the mayor of the municipality of Valdera, Alessio Barbafieri. The flyer reads: “Lajatico needs children, not homosexuals. Mayor, resign”. The leaflet would have been disseminated because in Lajatico, due to the few children leaving elementary school, the sixth grade class will not be held next year.
The mayors of the Valdera, in a joint letter, condemned “firmly and indignantly the homophobic flyer distributed by Forza Nuova in our area in which the mayor of Lajatico is attacked and we consider it a shameful and unacceptable gesture. Our area is characterized by a strong sense of community and respect for the person and we will not tolerate these values being trampled on by political forces that try in any way to sow hatred and division”.
The mayors have announced an initiative tonight, at 21, at the Teatro di Lajatico “to express political and human closeness to the mayor”.
Antonio Mazzeo, president of the Regional Council of Tuscany, intervenes in a note: “In Lajatico, due to the few children leaving elementary school, the sixth grade class will not be held next year. A neo-fascist group is using this problem to attack the mayor Alessio Barbafieri with homophobic and unworthy flyers, blaming the closure of the school on homosexuals. I would like to express my political and above all human solidarity with Alessio. This is an ignoble, cowardly attack, and I hope that all political forces dissociate and express solidarity with Alessio. Because this is not a political criticism but it’s just homophobia of the worst kind. And it must be fought every day”.
Solidarity with the municipal administration, the mayor and the community of Lajatico express in a note CGIL, CISL and UIL of Pisa that “condemn what is written in the flyer signed Forza Nuova and distributed in the municipality of Lajatico. Considering it a cowardly gesture and devoid of any thought social and human”.
