Lazio 2023 regionals, Francesco Rocca: “No division on my candidacy”

The former president of the Red Cross: “I had support from everyone”. Meloni: “Turning the page to write ‘end’ to years of wrong choices”. Berlusconi: “The right man for a turning point, Forza Italia by his side”

Support from all over the centre-right for Francesco Rocca’s candidacy for the presidency of the Lazio Region. He confirmed it himself in the press conference in Palazzo Ripetta, where he spoke of a candidacy that “takes place in a context of affection and sympathy”. “I haven’t heard the talk about internal divisions, I had support from everyone,” said the former president of the Red Cross. “In a few days we will present the program, we are working 24 hours a day. It will be a clear program, measurable by citizens, not pharaonic because we have to be concrete. Responsibility will be one of the beacons that will guide my government action but also competence and merit”, he added .

Presenting his electoral campaign, Rocca explains that “the waste-to-energy plant is a central theme”. “Lazio is in 18th place for separate waste collection, a disaster, we have to start from this. The waste-to-energy plant alone is not an answer, we need a different culture on separate collection. From 18th place I want to get to the top positions”, he said in reply to journalists in the room, also assuring that he will address the problem of where that plant is located: “The location of the waste-to-energy plant has a traffic problem. The Ardeatina is a road restricted by the superintendency. I wonder how the issue of traffic is dealt with in a Road closed”.

Speaking of Lazio health care, Rocca underlines that “we have the same problems as 10 years ago, I am also thinking of the issue of stretchers in our emergency rooms, we have endless waiting lists. I will guarantee our citizens a listening point. I will bring the dialogue back”. “I want to start from the words of the President of the Republic. Mattarella underlined the importance of never leaving people behind. My first goal is to restore dignity to the citizens of Lazio as regards health. This is what I have done throughout the world”. “Seeing citizens emigrate to be treated is a humiliation that I want to overcome at all costs,” he says.

MELONS – “The Lazio Region needs to turn the page and put an end to years of wrong choices and against the interests of its citizens. The united and cohesive center-right has chosen a personality that combines competence, ability and prestige: Francesco Rocca. His concreteness and his experience, gained as president of the Italian Red Cross and of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, are indisputable guarantees to bring good governance of the center-right to the Lazio Region as well”, affirms Giorgia Meloni in a note. “Our goal is to restore political centrality and administrative authority to one of the most important and populous regions of Italy and make it capable of giving answers to businesses and families again. Fratelli d’Italia and all the centre-right will be the protagonists of this challenge by presenting citizens a clear political proposal, supported by shared values and a common political programme”, concludes the Prime Minister.

BERLUSCONI – “After a life dedicated to the service of others as president of the International Red Cross and as president of the Italian Red Cross, Francesco Rocca “today offers himself to the citizens of Lazio to put his experience at the service of your Region, a Region that needs of a change of pace, and Francesco Rocca is the right man to give the turning point that we have been waiting for a long time in Rome and Lazio. Forza Italia will be at his side, in this electoral campaign and then in the five years of government of the Region. We will be in Lazio – as we are at the national level – an essential component of the centre-right. We are and will be the liberal, Christian, guarantor center that looks to Europe and the West, the center of the European People’s Party, the largest political family in Europe, which we proudly represent in Italy,” says Silvio Berlusconi. “In Lazio we are called to an important task – continues the former prime minister -: it is a question of restarting a Region which is among the first in Italy and is known throughout the world, not only because it hosts the summit of the Catholic Church, but for its incomparable artistic heritage and for its advanced activity in scientific research. A Region like yours which has had to suffer the inaction of the left for many years, and has paid dearly for it. Now it’s really up to us to make a change, as we have begun to do at a national level”.

“Dear Francesco, dear friends – continues Berlusconi – a new year has begun, which we all really want to be the year of change, the year of restart, for Italy and for Lazio. A restart based on people, on families, on businesses, on work. They are not rhetorical formulas, they are the cornerstones of our model of society. A model based on freedom, freedom from oppressive taxation, freedom from oppressive bureaucracy, freedom from unjust justice. And also the freedom for young people to build their own future and for the elderly to live in dignity”. “It is a turning point that we will build together, in Italy and in Lazio. This is the wish I address to myself and to all of you, which I address to Francesco Rocca and to all the candidates who will be protagonists of our electoral campaign. Forza Italia will be there, with its women and with its men, with its ideas and with its values, to realize all together a great dream, a great future of growth, well-being and freedom. Forza Francesco, Forza Lazio and – of course – Forza Italia !”, concludes the former prime minister.

LEAGUE – “I bring the greetings of Salvini who will not be able to be here, but will be present throughout the electoral campaign. I also thank Fabio Rampelli, and Nicola Procaccini, we are a ready team”, says Claudio Durigon, regional coordinator of the League in Lazio. “There are many flaws left by the left, starting with the increase in personal income tax in these hours”, says the Northern League player, presenting the issues to work on. “We will wipe out this left,” he assures.

WOLVES – “As a marathon runner I say that the road is long, we are here to work together, We Moderates and Sgarbi’s Renaissance will be there, we are united, politics is governing for the good of one’s people, we are demonstrating it with the government of the country”, says Maurizio Lupi, leader of We Moderates.
