Led Zeppelin, Robert Plant sings Stairway to Heaven for the 1st time live in 16 years. VIDEO

It hasn’t happened for 16 years: Robert Plant, the legendary singer of Led Zeppelin, recently sang the masterpiece of his legendary band, namely Stairway to Heaven.

It happened last October 21, 2023, on the occasion of a charity event organized by former Duran Duran guitarist Andy Taylor. Plant played some Led Zeppelin songs, singing live for the first time in 16 years the hit that consecrated them as sacred monsters of rock.

The charity event held on 21 October is “Cancer Platform”, the live event developed by Cancer Awareness Trust. It was organized by Andy Taylor, who last year publicly announced that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer. The charity event was held in Taylor’s honor.
“The highlight of the evening was certainly Plant’s performance,” underlines the magazine Rolling Stone.

The moment he sang stairway to Heaven he mesmerized everyone

The Led Zeppelin singer played some tracks of the band founded together with Jimmy Page as Thank You And Black Dog. But the apogee of the concert was definitely the moment Plant sang stairway to Heaven.

Aside from being Led Zeppelin’s biggest hit, the reason why this recent performance is to be applauded is because it hadn’t been sung live by Robert Plant since way back in 2007, when the rocker performed it at a concert in London.
Many other sacred monsters of the seven notes joined the choir, in the sense that many other music VIPs participated in the event. Ella Henderson, Andrew Ridgeley of Wham! and former Pink Floyd bassist Guy Pratt are some of the names who took part in the benefit concert.
