A Tg3 troupe immortalized yesterday the secretary of the Democratic Party at lunch with the leader of the 5 Star Movement. The two would have touched on various issues: from the maneuver to a possible future alliance through the election of the next President of the Republic

He said it after the administrative results. Enrico Letta had announced that, with the intention of building a great alliance to beat the center-right in the next policies, he would meet the leaders of the parties.

Lunch in the center of Rome

A Tg3 troupe immortalized yesterday the secretary of the Democratic Party at lunch with Giuseppe Conte. Theater of the meeting a restaurant in via delle Colonnelle, in the historic center of the capital. Almost two hours at the table in a day in which Letta also saw Nicola Zingaretti. The tête-à-tête with the former premier, today leader of the 5 Star Movement, would have touched on several issues: from a possible future alliance to the maneuver through the election of the next President of the Republic.

The themes “at the table”

Letta and Conte would have prefigured the possibility of an “Ursula majority” (with reference to the one supported by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen) for Sergio Mattarella’s successor. But these are only hypotheses, because the game is still open. In terms of economics, both the secretary of the Democratic Party and the 5-star leader believe that we should focus on cutting taxes on labor, contrary to what the Center-right and Italy alive think. Conte would then aim to restore the cashback. As for a possible future alliance between the Democratic Party and the M5S, according to Letta “political processes are not cold but must be built with patience and concentration”. Satisfied with the outcome of the Sicilian vote, where the synergy between the Democratic Party and the 5-star has worked, the secretary of the Democratic Party would aim to go together with the regional ones on the island next year, perhaps nominating Deputy Secretary Beppe Provenzano.
