Lidl Easter eggs with the Abio Foundation for hospitalized children

After the consequences of the pandemic made hospitalization an even more difficult experience for children and parents, Lidl Italia deemed it important to launch an initiative to support pediatric patients and their families. Starting from Monday 27 March, the Deluxe solidarity egg will be available in all 730 stores of the Chain: for each egg purchased, Lidl Italia will donate 1 euro to the Abio Italia Onlus Foundation, which since 2006 has coordinated all the Abio Associations present on the national territory .

With 55 Associations and 4,000 volunteers working in over 200 wards in Italy, for over 40 years Abio has been taking care of children who have to face a stay in hospital and is therefore one of the most important Italian voluntary organizations alongside pediatric patients. The Association aims to make their experience as less traumatic as possible and to help families in this way.

With the support of Lidl, Abio will mainly devote himself to two projects: the first, ‘Ripartiamo da Abio’, is aimed at remodulating the service of the associations which are gradually starting up again with the presence service alongside children in hospital after the emergency Covid-19, during which, not being able to physically access the departments, they brought their support remotely through donations and online activities. The second project supported by the brand is the Hospitality Kit, made up of a backpack containing pencils, books and games, which is given to children arriving at the hospital, to allow them to stay as natural and playful as possible.

“Even before pride, it is responsibility and a sense of duty that drive us to support projects such as those of the Abio Foundation, which for years has been working to make the context of the hospital less difficult in the eyes of the children who have to live there for shorter or longer periods. A precious commitment that allows young patients to play and which distracts them, at least in part, from the disease, also helping parents to face these moments “, explains Alessia Bonifazi, Head of Communications and Csr Lidl Italia.
