WHO IS LINDA YACCARINO – Linda Yaccarino was born on November 27, 1963 in Long Island, USA. The manager has just left her position as head of advertising at Nbc Universal as announced today by the group she joined in 2011. After studying at Penn State University from 1981 to 1985, Yaccarino joined the Turner Broadcasting System group before reach Nbc Universal. In 2018 Yaccarino was nominated by then US President Donald Trump to a two-year term to the Council on Sports Fitness and Nutrition. As Council Chair, she also partnered with the White House under Joe Biden’s administration in 2021 to create a Covid vaccine campaign. Since 2019 Yaccarino has also led a study commission at the World Economic Forum.
“The pick of Yaccarino, a longtime media industry insider, could signal a shift in the struggling company and come as a relief to advertisers, many of whom left Twitter after Musk took over,” underlined the ‘ Washington Post’ commenting on the appointment and recalling that Twitter has fired about three quarters of its staff since it took over the group. Yaccarino’s team at NBC Universal has partnered with Apple News, BuzzFeed, Snapchat and Twitter, among others.
Musk and Yaccarino, recalls the US newspaper, have collaborated in the past. The two appeared on stage together in Miami Beach last month for an event titled “Twitter 2.0: From Conversations to Partnerships,” a discussion about Twitter’s role in culture and its future role as it relates to marketers. NBC Universal also recently expanded its partnership with Twitter for the 2024 Paris Olympics, a move Yaccarino alluded to in a tweet to Musk last week.
