Sony has released the first trailer for “ Madame Web ,” starring Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney, a suspense thriller set in the universe of Marvel characters.
The direction was entrusted to SJ Clarkson, who has already directed “Jessica Jones” and “The Defenders” of Marvel. The screenplay was written by the director together with Claire Parker. The film will be released in theaters on February 14, 2024.
Dakota Johnson plays the lead role of Cassandra Webb, a Manhattan paramedic who may have clairvoyant abilities, allowing her to see into the future and the interconnected spider world. In the trailer, she meets and forms a partnership with a trio of young women—including Sweeney’s Julia Carpenter, who later takes on the role of Spider-Woman in the comics—to understand her past and survive her deadly present.
After the huge success of Sony Pictures Animation’s “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse”, it’s clear that there is still a lot of interest in everything related to the world of Spider Man. “Madame Web” is the latest chapter of Sony’s Marvel character universe, following the releases of Tom Hardy’s “Venom” (2018), “Venom: Fury of Carnage” (2021) and Jared Leto’s “Morbius” (2022). Sony’s next film will be the third film in the saga linked to the character of Venom, scheduled for November 8, 2024, and “Kraven the Hunter”, with Aaron Taylor-Johnson, on August 30, 2024. “Madame Web” is the first Sony’s comic adaptation features a woman in the lead role.
