The group progresses in achieving its goals
Maire has made significant progress in achieving its principal objectives sustainability path as highlighted in the 2022 Financial Statements available on the group’s website. Thanks to these advances, in 2022 the sustainability rating improved from A to AA for Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI); from Silver to Gold for EcoVadis; from 51.2 to 62.2/100 for Bloomberg ESG Disclosure Scores.
Below are the most significant results achieved in 2022: the group has adopted a plan for carbon neutrality by 2030 on Scope 1 and 2 emissions; to support our customers, it has increased our technology portfolio for energy transition and circularity, together with a portfolio of 2,041 patents, with 4 innovation centers; we carried out a screening based on ESG criteria on a number of suppliers equal to around 66% of the total expenditure; our health and safety indicators (Lost Time Injury Rate 0.062) exceeded the benchmark of the International Oil & Gas Procedures for the construction sector; the indicator of hours of training/hours worked reached 2.87% (considering site employees and suppliers) and we performed an average of more than 33 hours of training per employee; finally, it implemented a new Diversity, Equality & Inclusion policy and a new tax strategy.
Maire believes in one solid sustainability governance, integrated with corporate governance and based on a growing ESG culture supported by greater employee engagement. Our bottom-up, team-based approach is the foundation of our Met Zero Carbon Neutrality Task Force, Taxonomy Task Force and Working Group on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Maire involved 170 internal and external stakeholders in the engagement process for the materiality analysis, including qualitative interviews with experts.
For 2023, the company intends to continue improving its sustainability targets across all sectors. The new priority sustainability objectives for 2023 aim to improve: “its carbon footprint with maximum commitment towards neutrality as regards scopes 1&2 by 2030 with targeted initiatives on its offices and construction sites; our commitment as facilitators of energy transition, expanding the portfolio of solutions for decarbonisation, circularity and reduction of environmental impact. Our transformative impact towards an HSE-oriented human capital, rich in diversity and multiculturalism and a factor of change, through training programs at hoc; our impact on innovation through the expansion of our basket of patents, proprietary technologies and digital solutions, with cooperation with universities and innovation hubs; our positive economic and social contribution and shared value in the communities where we operate through a sustainable supply chain, local content, corporate social responsibility and the activities of the Maire Tecnimont Foundation; the contribution of our transformative force through the sharing of the vision of our sustainability strategy within the Group, in every activity, project, Region and supply chain”.
