Mandatory parental control on smartphones registered to minors: how to activate it

• The Agcom resolution of the communications guarantee authority has made it mandatory for all operators to activate a parental control system on SIM cards registered to minors for today 21 November. The indication is therefore that there is an upstream control of the contents that the user can view, i.e. that the internet provider will have to block unsuitable contents directly

TELEPHONE OPERATORS

• Italian telephone operators have adapted by making internet filtering systems available free of charge, which they previously only offered to their users for a fee. Content not suitable for minors will therefore be blocked at the Sim level, not by the phone or tablet

• Therefore, from today all Italian telephone operators have automatically activated mandatory parental control for minors, with the possibility of activating it manually even on SIMs not registered in the name of a minor but still used by children under 18 years of age.

HOW TO ACTIVATE IT

• Considering that most national telephone service providers also provide Internet services via landline, all parental control possibilities are also available for home connections, however, you need to activate them manually through the management app

• There are different types of videos and articles filtered according to the Agcom resolution, but they can be substantiated in these contents: for adults, with gambling and betting, where weapons and violence are present, content of hatred and discrimination, promotion of practices that can damage health, concerning religious sects and anonymizers. This last category, that of systems for surfing the Web anonymously, was inserted in order to prevent the minor from being able to bypass the block
