Mattarella, Constitutional Court appointments: Pitruzzella and Sciarrone Alibrandi new judges


The two professors, who will be sworn in before the President of the Republic on Tuesday 14 November, have been appointed to replace the Judges Professor Daria de Pretis and Professor Nicolò Zanon, who will end their activity on 11 November

Giovanni Pitruzzella and Antonella Sciarrone Alibrandi are the two new Judges of the Constitutional Court. They were appointed by decree dated 6 November 2023 by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, pursuant to art. 135 of the Constitution. Professor Pitruzzella and Professor Sciarrone Alibrandi will replace the Judges Professor Daria de Pretis and Professor Nicolò Zanon, who will cease their duties on 11 November. The decree was countersigned by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

Oath on November 14th

The Head of State communicated the appointment of the new Constitutional Judges to the President of the Senate of the Republic, the President of the Chamber of Deputies and the President of the Constitutional Court. Professors Pitruzzella and Sciarrone Alibrandi will take the oath before the President of the Republic on Tuesday 14 November, at 6.30 pm, at the Quirinale Palace.
