The President of the Republic, during the meeting at the Quirinale with the newly appointed referendums of the Court of Auditors, spoke of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan: investments “will affect society, together with the reforms”. Then the appeal: “Beware of corruption”. And on the public debt he underlines: “Reduce it this year for stable recovery”
“It is a question of seizing or losing an extraordinary opportunity for Italy and for the whole of Europe”. The warning was launched by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, talking about the PNRR (WHAT IS) during the meeting at the Quirinale with the newly appointed referendums of the Court of Auditors.
“Funds to be used well, beware of corruption”
“We are going through extraordinary times, the huge resources of the PNRR require in a short period of time a considerable volume of investments that will affect society, together with the reforms, just think of the ecological and digital transition plan”, Mattarella recalled. Then he underlined: “The NRRR translates into future generations. This extraordinary effort of the EU has not by chance taken the name Next generation, a name that recalls generational solidarity. Resources that must be used in a careful and responsible way”. “It will be up to the Court to verify the expenses”, the head of state recalled, “the Court is called to take into account the importance reserved to corruption and fraud in the use of funds”.
“Reduce public debt this year for stable recovery”
Mattarella also drew attention to the “growth of public debt” which “requires an additional responsibility”. “Already starting this year, public finance documents indicate the objective of reducing public debt, an unavoidable objective if we intend to make the recovery stable and lasting “.
