The Italian derby that inflamed the Allianz Cloud evening was won by Simone Cremona and Marco Cassetta. The new Italian champions beat Lorenzo Di Giovanni and Daniele Cattaneo 6-3, 6-3 in one hour and 16′ and, in the second round of the Milan Premier Padel P1, they will face the pair on Wednesday (fourth match on court number 1) Spanish formed by Momo Gonzalez and Alex Ruiz, seeded number 6 of the draw. The four Azzurri, who had been assigned a wild card for the main draw, were nonetheless welcomed by the public in Milan, who arrived en masse at the Allianz Cloud for a derby that saw three of the four protagonists on the pitch from the last tricolor final (Di Giovanni was paired with Tamame).
Cremona and Cassetta got off to a better start, taking the break in the second game of the first set and flying 3-0. As the exchanges progressed, however, “Digio” and Cattaneo entered the game, managing to break their opponents’ serve in the seventh game, with a straight smash against Cassetta’s wall. Another mistake on the break point, this time by Di Giovanni, gave the Italian champions the lead back, and this time they didn’t have to wait. In the second set, Di Giovanni and Cattaneo were the first to break (3-1), only to then concede a run of five games to zero which ended the match. “Only a year ago it was unthinkable to imagine being able to play a match with so many people at the arena and in a crazy setting like the Allianz Cloud -Cremona and Cassetta said-. We played a very good match and we are happy to have qualified at the second round. Challenging the number 6 duo in the world here in Milan is a dream”.
