Deceptions, lies and betrayals for an engaging family drama full of twists, all to the rhythm of American country music: the series arrives from November 23 on Sky and streaming on NOW the series MONARCH, with the Academy Award Susan Sarandon (Best Actress in a Leading Role for “Dead Man Walking”, “Thelma & Louise”, “The Client”) to lead a first-rate cast. The series of which the official trailer is released today will go every Wednesday on Sky Serie with two episodes a week and will be available on demand.

Produced by Sony and created by Melissa London Hilfers, the series, in 11 episodes set in Texas, tells the story of one of the brightest stars in the American country music firmament, Dottie Cantrell Roman (Sarandon) and her husband, country singer-songwriter Albie Roman (Trace Adkins, “The Lincoln Lawyer”, “A Song for My Father”), united both in private and professional life as partners for decades. They are a talented family, a real dynasty of country music. But even if their name is synonymous with honesty, there is a lie behind their success. The origins of this empire, in fact, do not correspond properly to what has always been declared, on the contrary, they seem to be rooted more in the shadow than in the light …

When their kingdom is endangered, Nicky Roman (Anna FrieL, “Limitless”, “London Boulevard” ), the heir to the throne, already committed to clashing with an industry that is against her, will stop at nothing to protect the legacy, but also her own career, even at the cost of clashing openly with her brother Luke – CEO of Monarch Records (Joshua Sasse, “Not Tomorrow”, “Galavant”) and against his younger sister Gigi (Beth Ditto, “On Becoming a God”, “Nocturnal Animals”), who finally seems willing to reclaim her piece of the pie.
