The disappearance of a little girl, Leila, and her stepfather Gregorio, is the mystery around which the story of the new Rai series “Sei Donne – Il misteri di Leila” develops, an IBC Movie production in collaboration with Rai Fiction, created by Ivan Cotroneo and Monica Rametta, directed by Vincenzo Marra, in three episodes of one hundred minutes, broadcast tomorrow in prime time on Rai 1. A psychological thriller in which the search for truth intersects with the stories of six women of today – Anna, Michela, Alessia, Viola, Aysha, Leila – each with her own experience, each with her own secrets, representative of a contemporary female universe, between determination and fragility, love and hate, constraints and freedom. A new chapter in the television writing of Ivan Cotroneo and Monica Rametta, who sign a compelling mystery plot to investigate the psychology of complex and multifaceted characters, with particular attention to the theme of female redemption, already experienced in acclaimed Rai series such as Un’altra vita , Sisters, While I was away. The direction is entrusted to Vincenzo Marra, an award-winning film director also appreciated abroad (Coming home, Rush hour, Balance) who signs his first television direction with an innovative and choral series that combines a cast of great names to an authorial productive and narrative approach. Protagonist Maya Sansa, in the role of the prosecutor of Taranto Anna Conti, esteemed and authoritative professional with an alcoholism problem, resurfaced after the end of her marriage, which makes her tough in interpersonal relationships, especially with the new inspector Emanuele (Alessio Vassallo) , just arrived at the Prosecutor’s Office. Finding similarities with her past in the disappearance of Leila (Silvia Pacente), Anna throws herself relentlessly into solving the case, initially underestimated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office as a simple voluntary removal, but over which lies, inconsistencies and unconvincing testimonies seem to hover. The other women in the series revolve around the “mystery of Leila”: Michela (Ivana Lotito), her maternal aunt, an orthopedic surgeon, Alessia (Denise Tantucci), the athletics coach, Aysha (Cristina Parku), Leila’s best friend and Viola (Isabella Ferrari), the neighbor. Nothing is taken for granted and predictable in this noir plot that unfolds, episode after episode, offering the viewer clues, confirmations, confessions, unexpected twists and role-playing games capable of leading him, without reassurances or rhetoric, to the truth. The cast is enriched by Maurizio Lastrico in the role of Gregorio, Leila’s stepfather, Pier Giorgio Bellocchio in the role of Roberto, Anna’s ex-husband, and Gianfelice Imparato, who plays the Chief Prosecutor Marcello Trifoni, very close to Anna, with her hard and protective at the same time. Made with the contribution of the Apulia Film Fund of the Apulia Film Commission Foundation, the series returns the photograph of an unedited and contemporary Taranto, to frame a choral story where the stories of the protagonists intertwine with a territorial fabric far from stereotypes.
