Bagnaia only 16th after a crash in the middle of the race
Ducati hat-trick in the 2023 MotoGp Argentina race at Termas de Rio Hondo. Marco Bezzecchi, the new world leader, triumphed after a race leading from the first corner. The standard bearer of the VR46 team imposes himself in front of the French Johann Zarco and the Spanish Alex Marquez. Fourth place for Franco Morbidelli with the Yamaha who leaves behind another bike from Borgo Panigale, that of the Spaniard Jorge Martin. Sixth was the Australian of KTM Jack Miller, followed by the French of Yamaha Fabio Quartararo. Disappointment for the reigning world champion and winner of the debut race in Portugal Francesco ‘Pecco’ Bagnaia, only 16th after a mid-race crash. In the World Championship standings, Bezzecchi leads with 50 points, 9 more than Bagnaia and 15 more than Zarco.
“I’m delighted, I’m lost for words. Today I woke up with a strange feeling: I knew I was fast but not like that. I don’t usually go fast in the wet, I was scared but I found an excellent feeling right from the start. It was tough stay focused but it was beautiful. I thank all those who always support me” Bezzecchi’s words after the victory.
“I was unlucky, I was pushing, everything was under control but I was at the limit. I’m sorry, I’m particularly angry with myself because I thought I’d figured out how to stop doing it” Bagnaia said about his crash. “Today we were fast, it would have been a perfect weekend with second place but it’s a crash I can’t explain. This really pisses me off… It could happen, but I don’t want it to happen. Now head down and work towards Austin. I don’t want to get into a negative ‘mood’, at the moment I’m pissed off, I’m not happy with myself and we need to improve,” added Bagnaia to Sky Sport.
