Nespresso becomes B Corp and in Italy it becomes a benefit company

Nespressothe benchmark for high quality portioned coffee, has obtained, globally, the B Corp certificationthus joining an international movement of 4,500 companies that are rethinking the way they do business and are committed to respect high standards of social and environmental responsibility and transparency. But not only. In Italy, Nespresso strengthens its commitment to pursue a sustainable business model by adopting immediately also the status of Benefit Company, integrating in its corporate purpose, in addition to the profit objectives, the aim of having a positive impact on society and the environment.

Out of 150,000 companies worldwide that have undergone the B Impact Assessment, the assessment process necessary to become a B Corp, only 3% have obtained the certification, satisfying the high standards of sustainability, responsibility and transparency in the five areas of governance, work, community, environment and consumers.

Among the key elements that contributed to the certification are the unique approach to coffee sourcing adopted by Nespresso, through the AAA Sustainable Quality Program, in partnership with Rainforest Alliance – its strategic alliance with Fairtrade and the global recycling program for spent aluminum capsules. At the same time, with the B Corp certification Nespresso is committed to continually improve, accelerating its actions for the climate, communities and circularity.
