- “We’re still grappling with this,” Gov. THE “ESCAPE” SEAL
- Meanwhile, yesterday a seal “escaped”, but not for long, from its tank at the Central Park Zoo due to the floods that hit New York. The torrential rains allowed the animal to swim away undisturbed and explore the area around its enclosure before returning with the other two specimens of its species

ZOOs CLOSED
- By early afternoon yesterday everything in the Central Park area was back to normal. However, the city’s four zoos were closed for the whole day to allow staff to ensure the safety of the animals

TRANSPORT CHAOS
- Yesterday half of the metro lines were partially or totally suspended, some flooded stations became unreachable causing quite a few inconveniences to passengers. Even the buses stopped. A terminal at LaGuardia Airport was closed and dozens of flights at the three main airports in the area – Newark, LaGuardia and JFK – were delayed, as were arriving and departing trains
