On Saturday 18 December, from 6.30 pm, the “Sport & Culture Award – The Oscars of Italian Sport”, now in its 16th edition, will take place in the Coni Hall of Honor in Rome. Organized by ASI (Italian Sports and Social Associations), it returns after a year of interruption in presence, given the pandemic emergency. An event dedicated to sport and passion, born in 2004, on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the foundation of Asi, to draw attention to the values that the organization embodies every day: sport and culture, precisely, through its commitment to the territory and the healthy growth of the individual. The event, held annually, is set up nationally to reward the Entity / Administration, the company and / or the person who are distinguished for their work. Partner of the event is Ics (Istituto per il Credito Sportivo), media partner Corriere dello Sport-Stadio.
The award was created to draw attention to those who demonstrate every day, with their choices and projects, how sport is a very powerful vehicle for social and economic growth. The basic idea is to think of sport as a fundamental tool to guarantee people’s health and their psycho-physical well-being. Therefore favoring processes of aggregation and social integration.
From 2019, a section dedicated to the Media has been added to the three historical categories (this year, a special edition in memory of Giampiero Galeazzi, with the presence of his son Gianluca and the President of the Italian Rowing Federation, Giuseppe Abbagnale that Galeazzi told in an exciting Olympic competition) and one aimed at personalities who have distinguished themselves in sport (Athlete of the Year Award, named after Carlo Pedersoli.
To contend for the award, Lorenzo Patta, Marco Orsi and Emiliano Malagoli). Unchanged the ICS-Plant Engineering and Sports Promotion, Technological Innovation and Sports Ethical Gesture “Fabrizio Quattrocchi” sections. For each section, three candidates to compete for the prize.
