Deputy Governor Riccardi: “The two young people, a boy and a girl, are in solitary confinement and the conditions are currently good”
First two cases of Omicron variant in Friuli Venezia Giulia. “Last night the first case of the Omicron variant was recorded and also the second case sequenced this morning in urgency thanks to the collaboration with the Research Area Genomics and Epigenomics Laboratory was confirmed as an Omicron variant” said the deputy governor with delegation to the Health Riccardo Riccardi on the sidelines of his visit to the Ente Fiera vaccination hub in Martignacco, where the Friuli Centrale health agency (Asufc) has organized a vaccination day dedicated to under 12s for today.
“The two young people, a boy and a girl, are in isolation and the conditions are currently good – explained Riccardi – It is a natural evolution, as it was for the Delta variant, and the hope is that the thesis for which this mutation produces more limited effects than was initially expected to be real. “
On vaccines, “we have reached over 3,000 bookings and today in this first day in the Asucf area we will vaccinate about 230 children. We note a bit of caution, but it was a predictable phenomenon. I think – Riccardi commented – it is good that the parents and families think, reflect, consult with trusted pediatricians and make an informed choice. I realize that it is not easy, but it is a question that must be addressed especially in those families where the parents have chosen to do not undergo vaccination and therefore risk more than others in contact with children “.
“This phenomenon does not worry about the effects on children who contract the infection, which still occurs in a mild form, but for the general effects on face-to-face teaching. With this trend of the virus an open school must be guaranteed but it remains a complex goal”, said the deputy governor.
The next days dedicated to pediatric vaccination organized by Asufc will be on 27 December at the Ente Fiera and in Gemona and on 28 in Palmanova. For these days the reservations are already sold out, while the first useful days with available seats are currently those of Sunday 2 January at Ente Fiera, Monday 3 in Gemona and 11 January in Palmanova.
Riccardi, thanking staff and volunteers committed to putting minors at ease with dedicated paths – in the outdoor exhibition spaces available to the little ones also the animals of social farms that have collaborated with Asufc for years in pet therapy and agro-ecological projects – has renewed an appeal, also to the vaccinated population, in these pre-Christmas days.
