First of all, the actress spent words of thanks and admiration for Eiichirō Oda, the Japanese cartoonist father of Monkey D. Luffy and companions: “He is an absolute genius and it is impossible to argue with a genius. He’s done such an amazing and masterful job of crafting the story that’s not only wacky and crazy and playful and adventurous, but it’s also grounded in reality. He really has a big heart. It is a story about finding a family. It’s a story about freedom and chasing your dreams. And I think that’s something people can universally connect to.”

Emily Rudd then spoke about how the character of Nami fits her perfectly: “I’ve always been the person my family asked for directions. So, I guess I was born to be a navigator.”

The actress clarified: “I was born to be Nami. Let’s say it”.

Emily Rudd then spoke more in depth about Nami: “I think she is the brains of the group. See, she keeps the kids in line. And she’s obviously a skilled thief, so she knows how to pull the wool over people’s eyes. I think she is protective, not only towards the crew members, but also towards herself, especially during the East Blue Saga”.

Later, the actress revealed her second favorite character: “I love Nico Robin”.

Finally, Emily Rudd focused on the love lavished in the realization of the live action: “My biggest dream is that people who were reluctant at first to watch the anime or read the manga give our show a chance and fall in love with it the same way I and millions of other people have fallen in love with one piece“.
