A mid-range phone with high-end phone specs. This is how the OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite 5G presents itself, which we have had the opportunity to try for over a month. The new telephone of the Nord line (here the review of the Nord 2T, here the one of the Nord CE 2) is characterized by a large capacity battery, a good photographic sector and well-optimized software. Together with the new Nord CE 2 Lite we also tried the new OnePlus Nord Buds 2 headphones. Here’s how it went.
OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite 5G: the main features
Sold in two colors (Pastel Lime green and dark Chromatic Gray), the new OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite 5G is light (weighs just under 200 grams for 8.3 mm thick), with a glossy back side and satin edges, which make it particularly comfortable to hold. The smartphone is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G processor which we found to be fast and not overly energy intensive. Ram of 8 gigabytes (expandable on the software side up to 16), storage space of 128 gigabytes. The very bright 6.72-inch display has a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz which adapts to the content displayed: we found it to be of good quality and clearly visible even in sunlight. In terms of energy, the smartphone is equipped with a 5,000 mAh battery (a top-of-the-range battery, therefore) with 67W SUPERVOOC fast charging at controlled temperature which, in our tests, charged from completely discharged in 42 minutes (in 15 minutes we reached 50%, in half an hour we exceeded 80%).
OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite 5G: the battery and other functions
The battery, they explain to us, is equipped with Battery Health Engine technology that adapts to the user’s lifestyle, avoids overloads and premature loss of power. Among other functions, within the Oxygen OS 13.1 operating system based on Android 13, we find a gaming mode capable of reducing lag and improve the stabilization of frame rate and also a mode (Game Focus Mode) to block unnecessary notifications so as not to be disturbed during the most important games; also included in the operating system is Zen Space, which allows the user to “detox” from the continuous use of the telephone. Finally, there is the fingerprint reader on the power button, a slot for a second sim card or a memory card (up to 1 terabyte) and the headphone jack (the audio coming out of the speakers is also very good) . However, the comfortable alert slider that has always characterized OnePlus smartphones is not present (the parent company explains that it has “given priority to the most essential functions to guarantee users a fast and fluid experience at an affordable price”).
OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite 5G: photographic sector
On board the new Nord we find a good photographic system with a 108 megapixel main camera and optical image stabilization. The equipment is completed by a depth sensor and a 2 megapixel macro lens, while the selfie cam is 16 megapixel. At the software level we find a zoom up to 3X quite effective and a Pro mode to be able to customize all aspects of the photo. At the video level we find slow-motion, timelapse and double-view video to shoot simultaneously from the rear camera and selfie-cam. We were satisfied with the yield of the photos, in different lighting situations; same thing for movies, the quality of which is, however, “only” Full HD.
OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite 5G: verdict, availability and prices
The latest smartphone in OnePlus’ Nord line is a product with a certainly attractive price: 329 euros, which also includes main OxygenOS updates for two years and security updates for three years. In our opinion, it is an ideal phone for the younger range of consumers, for students, for those approaching the gaming world. Among the few negative sides we point out that the back side, unfortunately, collects dust and fingerprints. Better to use the protective cover included in the package.
OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite 5G: Pros and Cons
- Quality of display and battery compartment
- Video quality good but not great
- Back side collects fingerprints and dust
OnePlus Nord Buds 2
Together with the new Nord CE 3 Lite 5G, OnePlus also presented its latest headphones, also from the Nord line: the Nord Buds 2. These are wireless earphones with an attractive price (69 euros) that offer good sound quality, excellent bass ( enhanced by an algorithm called BassWave, which can be customized by the user), an equalizer and the noise canceling function even in call for the listener. The headphones connect very quickly, have a square shape, are sold in two colors (white and dark gray) and are resistant to dust, rain and sweat.
