‘Pages of sustainability’, the four finalists of the non-fiction contest

The awarding of the winners on November 29 in Bologna

There are four finalist books in the third edition of the non-fiction contest ‘Sustainability Pages’, promoted as part of the Vivere a zero waste Award, which celebrates its first ten-year anniversary in 2022. Red thread of the 2022 selection is ‘Visions of anthropocene’“a theme – explain the curators of the award Andrea Segrè, Daniela Volpe and Luca Falasconi – that focuses ondevastating impact of human action on Earth and on the catastrophic myopia that will pay for the generations to come. What seemed dystopian only at the beginning of the millennium, like pandemics and other planetary catastrophes, is today at the center of the daily debate “.

So here are the finalists of ‘Sustainability Pages’ 2022: they are’Jurassic Park philosophy‘by Nicolas Michaud and Jessica Watkins (Mimesis Edizioni); ‘Inflamed / Inflammation. Medicine, conflict and inequality‘, by Rupa Marya and Raj Patel (Feltrinelli),’The dinosaurs that fly among us‘by Francesco Barberini (Salani) and’The gentle revolution of the ecological transition. How to build a possible future‘, by Gäel Giraud (Libreria Editrice Vaticana).

“A finalist quatern – the curators still observe – which includes four books very different in terms of authors, assumptions, theoretical vision and contents, but extraordinarily similar in terms of sensitivity and the ability to call us back to a” last call “which cannot be postponed”.

‘Sustainability Pages’ is part of the tenth edition of the Vivere a zero waste Award, Italian sustainability awards promoted by the Last Minute Market Zero Spreco campaign with the patronage of the Ministries of Ecological Transition, Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Labor and Social Policies, in synergy also with Anci, the Permanent Representation of the European Commission in Italy and the Emilia Romagna Region.

The winners will be awarded on Tuesday 29 November in Bologna (Palazzo D’Accursio, at 3 pm). The winners of the Sustainability Pages category, dedicated to non-fiction and promoted in partnership with Eni, were the scientist Stefano Mancuso in 2021 and the science popularizer Eliana Liotta in 2020.
