Palermo, 22 March ‘Book Club’ event

“Women of cuntintizza”, this is the title of the event organized by the Book Club at the London-based Palermo. After six months of reading meetings, enlivened by English tea time, here is the club party, as promised by the organizers in recent months. The London-style club was born last September from an initiative of the online newspaper www.atuttamamma.net, directed by the journalist Maristella Panepinto, on the input of the famous writer Simonetta Agnello Hornby. “Simonetta”, says the journalist Panepinto, “she proposed me to organize a book club in the London way and to do it in Palermo. We must have been about ten and surprisingly seventy showed up at the first meeting. From there we found more space and thanks to the common willingness of the members we started two monthly meetings, one for reading and one with the author. A fb group has also become active, the London Book Club in Palermo, which has 600 members”. “We are all women, of all ages and with different backgrounds, united by a passion for books. In our meetings we read, comment on the texts and exchange ideas. Beautiful friendships are also being born from books”.

“On the occasion of the key event of the club we will have the honor of having guests of very special women, with whom we will talk on March 22, at 5 pm at the Anglican Holy Cross Church in Palermo, in via Roma, at the corner with via Mariano Stabile in Palermo,” he says.

We are talking about the writer Simonetta Agnello Hornby in live connection from London and Dr. Costanza Gravina of Comitini, who together with Simonetta wrote the book “La cuntintizza” (our club’s reading of the month), the journalist Adnkronos Elvira Terranova, the writer Ester Rizzo Licata, the doctor/gynecologist Maria Rosa D’Anna and the bookseller Paola Paola Maranzano. It will be a meeting dedicated to important issues for women, which will flow on the leitmotif of “cuntintizza”, also understood in its sweet and bitter nuances. The journalists Lucia Porracciolo and Maristella Panepinto will talk to the guests. To participate, send an email to [email protected]
