Ponte Stretto, Def: “It costs 14.6 billion to be found in the Budget Law”

According to the Infrastructure Annex to the Economic and Financial Document, they will be found in the autumn

Over 14 billion will be found in the autumn with the Budget Law to finance the construction of the bridge over the Strait of Messina. According to the Infrastructure Annex to the Economic and Financial Document, the cost of the bridge itself amounts to 13.5 billion euros, to which must be added 1.1 billion for the complementary works and optimization of the railway connections, under contract with Rfi, side of Sicily and Calabria, therefore for a total of 14.6 billion.

The optimization and complementary works to the road connections, on the other hand, with a lower economic impact, will be better defined and detailed in the context of the next program contracts with Anas.

“To date – reads the document – there are no financial guarantees available under current legislation; therefore, these will have to be identified when defining the budget bill”. The work will be financed through: the resources made available by the Regions, in particular from the Development and Cohesion Funds; the identification, when defining the 2024 budget law, of the multi-year financial coverage charged to the state budget; loans contracted for this purpose on the national and international market. For this purpose, the interlocutions with institutional lenders such as the European Investment Bank and Cassa depositi e prestiti will be considered a priority; access to grants under the Connecting Europe Facility – CEF program (participation in the tender by September 2023).
