The representatives of the port of Venice and Chioggia, of the interports and airports of Veneto serving the transport of goods and passengers met today at the Padua Fair to sign, in the presence of the Vice President and Councilor for Infrastructure and Transport of the Veneto Region Elisa De Berti , a collaboration agreement for the promotion and development of the Veneto Logistics System (Slv). The meeting was attended by: Fulvio Lino Di Blasio, president of the Port System Authority of the Northern Adriatic Sea, Enrico Marchi, president of the Save Group, Franco Pasqualetti, president of Interporto Padova, Primo Vitaliano Bressanin, president of Interporto Rovigo, Corrado Donà, managing director of Portogruaro Interporto and Matteo Gasparato, president of Consorzio Zai – Interporto Quadrante Europa.

The infrastructural system of Veneto with its 10,300 km of roads, 1,850 km of railways and 135 km of the Po-Fissero-Tartaro-Canalbianco river course (in addition to the 430 km of the Litoranea Veneta), handles a total of 71.4 million tons of cargo and 20.3 million passengers per year. It is, therefore, an excellence in the European panorama and is located at the crossroads of primary nodes within the Ten-T Networks, overseeing the Baltic-Adriatic, Mediterranean and Scandinavian-Mediterranean corridors, as well as the Motorways of the Sea. The new “Connecting Europe Facility” (Cef2), aimed at promoting investments to complete and modernize trans-European networks in the transport, energy and digital sectors, highlights the strategic role of synergies and partnerships between public and private actors to develop the aforementioned trans-European networks, accelerating the decarbonisation and digitalisation of the EU economy.

The agreement is based on the idea that in a context of great competition between territories, being able to focus on a compact infrastructure and logistics system represents an added value for investors and customers. And to do this it is necessary to work to make oneself known as a system, to build a network and a pipeline of projects to be presented in Brussels, to implement joint actions for the simplification of procedures and the digitization of the logistics chain. The actions will be able to develop in synergy between several nodes through the direct management of the services, the involvement of third party operators, or with the participation in projects co-financed by the public sector.

Within the agreement, a focus is dedicated to the development of passenger mobility and provides for coordination for cruise traffic with the implementation of the “flying and cruise” which aims to improve the connections between the airport and the port docks of Venice and Chioggia . The synergy between infrastructures will be essential to accelerate the energy transition. The signatories of the pact intend to coordinate to develop alternative fuels for transport in order to reduce emissions related to mobility and propose to share good practices for the energy efficiency of transport nodes. The first concrete appointments as early as 2023 with a joint presentation of the progress of the logistics offer of Veneto in the most interesting markets starting from Bavaria.

“Today’s signature is a historic opportunity to initiate a strategic synergy between logistic nodes based in the regional territory but whose value goes far beyond and is also recognized at a European level”, underlines Fulvio Lino Di Blasio, president of the Northern Adriatic Sea Port System. “Veneto can count on core and comprehensive nodes of the trans-European transport network. Today we concretely value the systematization and coordination of the regional logistics reality which, through joint promotional activities and with the necessary support of the Region, will have to grasp, at an international and European Union, those opportunities necessary to guarantee economic growth, job creation and drive towards innovation and sustainability. A path that benefits the regional economy and the entire country. In this sense, my personal thanks go to all partners for the great willingness to discuss and for collaboration and to the Councilor De Berti for the important support for the initiative “.

“The collaboration agreement signed today represents an important platform that will lead to the activation of new synergies between operators in the Veneto logistics system, to the full advantage of the competitiveness of the regional economy. The Save Group is developing ambitious and solid projects and investments, which affect the four airports managed, with solutions all oriented towards sustainability. We are convinced that the sharing of objectives and programs identified with the other players in the logistics network will determine an increase in business opportunities for all and positive repercussions at a regional and national level “, he affirms Enrico Marchi, President of the Group.

“It is an important moment of cohesion between the Veneto logistics structures that will allow us to face the next market challenges with determination. United we win”. underlines Franco Pasqualetti, President of Interporto Padova Spa. “We have enthusiastically welcomed the proposal for the development of synergies and coordination between logistic actors at the regional level, where each can play a specific role for the benefit of the entire system: the Portogruaro Interport will do its part to mediate traffic to and from Eastern European countries and as a back port for maritime and steel trades, by virtue of its geographical location in the easternmost part of Eastern Veneto “, comments Corrado Donà, CEO of Portogruaro Interporto SpA.

“A Veneto strategic territorial pact for intermodal development through advanced and eco-sustainable logistics, integrated at an international level where each subject works in collaboration and exchange with partner subjects”, explains Primo Vitaliano Bressanin, the President of Interporto di Rovigo Spa “The signature today represents a starting point in the joint activities of Veneto stakeholders. Consorzio ZAI’s commitment to teamwork with all regional logistics partners has always been at the center of our programs, starting from the Veneto logistics district up to most recent Veneto Intermodal project that we coordinated and thanks to which we have brought to our territory over 2 million euros of designs on intermodal junctions “notes Matteo Gasparato, President of the ZAI Consortium – President of Interporto Quadrante Europa.

“The pact ratified today represents another fundamental element of the actions initiated by the Regional Transport Plan approved in July 2020. This is a testimony of how a synergistic management of skills and shared planning of the infrastructures necessary for economic development and protection of the our territorial heritage. With this aim, the Veneto Region intends to have a coordinating role to promote discussion internally, but also with other regions in Italy and Europe, to keep Veneto at the center of infrastructural networks and strategic commercial “, comments the Vice President of the Veneto Region Elisa De Berti.
